  I like this idea of mindcasting (tweeting critically with meaning and purpose) as opposed to lifecasting (simply tweeting what's going on).

  This is a Google maps mash up with historical maps overlays – of the sort you could previously only do in Google Earth. I'm not sure how they did this or if teachers can replicate it, but this is a great history resource in and of itself.

  I'm not sure this is the first time in history, but this is exciting: "President Obama today – for the first time in history – set in motion a new national policy aimed at both increasing fuel economy and reducing greenhouse gas pollution for all new cars and trucks sold in the United States."

  My first thought when Alfred posted a link to this on Twitter was "Skynet?" – here's the key question: "But increasingly there is interest in machines, call them robots if you like, that will make the 'fire or not' decision on their own. These machines will be controlled by software. But just how do you program a machine to act ethically?"
