Thank you all for your comments - others' perspectives really help me get more out of the reflection process.

Mark, sorry we didn't meet. I hope you venture into the Bloggers Cafe more next year. ;)

Brian, great to see you again.

Kevin, it was great to meet you. Thanks for the interview, too - I appreciated hearing Steve's end-of-conference reflections.

And Steve, thank you for taking the time to respond here. I've also seen both sides of the back channel chat... and more importantly, I'm looking forward to the next edubloggercon(s) - and to playing a more active roll in helping to plan the event(s) myself, too.

[...] An educator convincingly told me she used Twitter to keep up with technology trends, but when I checked out her profile, she followed three people (one of which was me). I know I can be passionate about my PLN as I rely on many and most of you for an exchange of quality resources and information. I think Mark Wagner said it well on his blog a few days ago when he wrote “I definitely advocate sharing your passions, but we need to remember that they are after all constructing their own meaning and that this usually happens gradually and organically over time.”  [...]

Mark:

Thoughtful, but no apology necessary. I got over my pity party quickly. Just thought it would be good for us to reflect on when blogging and other tools may actually take away from the present moment. I would include in that back-channel chatting, which sometimes is great, and sometimes can almost destroy a presentation.

Mark,
I heard various versions from various people about the group upstairs but the air seemed ripe for intrigue. I was torn but stayed downstairs, maybe partly to witness the social experiment of dual use space. I'm posting a podcast interview with Steve that deals with some of this.

Mark,
Wow, deep thoughts, great post. I'm reading a few blog posts as I try to formulate my blog post(s) for NECC. I peeked in on the Blogger's area, but mostly stayed away because of the amount of people, and because I'm just getting back into blogging myself, it was a little intimidating for me. I can sense there must've been quite a 'poker' boom these last few years. I can't imagine the work Steve Hargadon and countless others put into all aspects of this year's NECC. Someday I hope to gain a fraction of Chris Lehmann's passion & intelligence, then maybe I can use some of your tips to present @NECC!
I appreciate your links above, I'd love to go to CA in December to see David Jakes, but it won't be happening. Can't wait for DC in 2009.
