Mark,
We've set up WP Mu on our servers for our podcasting teachers and installed a plugin called "Viper's Video Quicktags." It lets you post easily from a bunch of video sites (google, youtube, etc.) and is pretty intuitive. It's worked out for us, maybe it will help you.
Plugins available: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=video

Hi Mark,
I find that I can embed a YouTube video into my WP blog, but as John says, it messes with the code. By accident, though, I found that if I pasted the embed code into the WP code window and immediately hit publish, it works.

For some reason if you do more editing or save your post after you paste the code in, it rewrites the embed code and the video will not show up.

So I do the whole post, make sure it is exactly what I want, save it, go to the code view, paste the embed code in the right place, hit publish, and check it on the site to make sure it worked. If you have to edit the post for any reason, you will have to re-paste the embed code in and repeat the process.

Weird, but this work-around works for me. Not happy with it, but at least it's better than not having video...

Mark, do we have permission to share (i.e., post?, link to?) your YouTube clip of Will?

Addendum to above... my reference to div tags and paragraph tags did not appear in my post above. That's life. Cheers, John

Hi Mark

I am curious about your problem regarding the embedding of YouTube videos in Wordpress. I have recently switched to Wordpress and I thought I would see if I could embed a YouTube video after reading your post. I managed to embed one quite okay.

The Wordpress interface is a little unusual. When you embed the code I used the "Code" tab of course. If you switch to the "Visual" tab there is nothing to see. This is quite awkward.

I used a tag to centre the video and following publishing these were converted by Wordpress to tags.

Google's Blogger handles embedded video quite well and I find that embedding all the video that one creates as a video in Blogger is an incredibly easy way to set up a vodcast. You can paste the RSS feed for that specific Blogger blog into iTunes and there you have it. You could create a Blogger account purely for embedded video and use that to establish a vodcast and at regular intervals you could import all the Blogger posts into Wordpress via its import function. Wordpress will skip video posts that have previously been imported.

I switched to Wordpress as I found that publishing my blog via Blogger to my host's server took forever.

Cheers
