[...] Here is the third of five submissions I made for NECC 2008. My previous two submissions were really focused on helping teachers learn - rather than helping teachers to teach. This session, though, is my effort at a more teaching centered session. It combines elements of my three-hour Two-Way Teaching workshops from last year and the new 20 minute Blogs, Wikis, and Google Docs CUE Tips session I submitted last month for the 2008 CUE conference. I hope the combination works. Let me know what you think. [...]

Thanks for the feedback, Christy... if I do a chart for the preso (probably the best way to keep it short), I suppose I should add discussion forums to the matrix.

Hopefully the submission readers agree with you that it'll be helpful. :)

If you can get through that in 20 minutes, that'll be impressive! I know, you're not going to go deep on any one of these, just compare.

It sounds cool though. Our team has been discussing when wikis are appropriate for our courses. We've ended up in the past with "discussion board" assignments where basically everyone just posts with an attachment for their individual project to get peer feedback. I'm trying to convince my SMEs that if they are really looking for a "gallery" to display student work that wikis would be a better choice; some are more receptive to that idea than others. I'm slowly making progress though.

I haven't seen anyone else do this specific comparison, but I think it would be beneficial. Beginners would see possibilities for application, and people with more experience would be able to think about best practices.
